Life, Lube & the Pursuit of Happiness: Women's Sexual Wellness Company Lark Love's Success Is No Lark

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

With sales of Lark Love’s botanical lubricants and body love products for women growing at specialty retailers including Goop, Erewhon and others, the woman-owned company is taking the lead on vaginal and sexual lubricants and wellness products.

JAMESTOWN, Colorado (Feb. 6, 2023) — “All hail the vagina,” say Lark Love cofounders Corrie Bradley and Rainbow Shultz. The two Colorado-based, longtime friends are on a “mission to give vaginas the respect and care they deserve.”

As such, Corrie, with a background in herbalism and product formulation, and Rainbow, an entrepreneur, chef and owner of the Jamestown Mercantile, one of the oldest restaurant/bars in Colorado dating back to the 1800s, combined forces to launch Lark Love. The company formulates luxurious, safe, intimate care products made with pure, luscious, all natural ingredients. Through their work, Lark Love’s cofounders seek to celebrate and de-stigmatize the female body.

And in little time, the company has received positive response from such leading retailers and trendsetters as Goop, the wellness and lifestyle company founded by actor Gwyneth Paltrow; Erewhon, a celebrated natural foods retailer with seven stores in Los Angeles; Clark’s Nutrition in Southern California; Lucky’s Market in Colorado; and others. According to Shultz, Lark Love has seen its sales double on Goop in the last month alone.

“We started selling on Goop before the holidays. Our products also appeared for the first time on the shelf in Erewhon stores this past December. Since then, we are doing well on Goop and in Erewhon. We’re also excited to expand into other brick-and-mortar and online retailers with a like-minded mission and demographic,” says Shultz. Lark Love’s owners are seeking investors and strategic partners to help accelerate growth. “This is a fun part of our company where we are finally getting out there and excited to see growth.”

Body Positive, All Botanical, Women-Focused
Using the power of active botanicals with the hydrating benefits of hyaluronic acid, Lark Love’s products are much like a fancy face serum, except made with reverence for the world’s most important organ. The women founders of Lark Love looked around and saw that there were luxury products available for every body part, including face, hair and even feet, but none available for the vagina! Through Lark Love, they decided that it was time to change that dynamic.

“From our daily hydrating elixir to our botanical sexy time serum to our most gentle organic personal lubricant, our products are made with women in mind, because women deserve luxury shame-free sexual wellness. Women experience vaginal dryness many times throughout the course of a year, the course of a month, even a day. There is a myriad of reasons for skin dryness, but what doesn’t change is the fact that women deserve a beautiful shame-free product that is thoughtfully formulated for their health and wellness," Shultz says.

Lark Love offers premium intimate care, body care and facial care products formulated specifically for women. For wholesale inquiries and/or strategic partner interest, contact rainbow@larklove.com. Lark Love also works with affiliate partners; visit here for more information.

Best-Selling 'Courage in Cannabis' Author Announces Soon-to-Be-Published 2nd Edition

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (February 7, 2023) — How do you follow up a best-selling anthology that seeks to break down the stigma associated with cannabis by celebrating everyday heroes who have found inspiration and purpose through their relationship with the cannabis plant?

By publishing Courage in Cannabis, Volume 2 – The Triumphant Stories, a new compilation of stories written by doctors, lawyers, patients, caregivers, participants in the legacy market, entrepreneurs, advocates and others that offers unique perspectives into the power and potential of the cannabis plant in business and medicine, and in creating more resilient economies and communities.

Bridget Cole Williams, M.D., is a board-certified family physician.

Set to be published in Spring 2023 by the GHH Community Foundation, a nonprofit 501c(3) organization, Courage in Cannabis, Volume 2 – The Triumphant Stories is a follow-up to the first edition, which, when published in 2021, was awarded Best New Release and International Bestseller on Amazon.

Presented by author Dr. Bridget Cole Williams, M.D., a board-certified physician specializing in family practice and cannabis medicine, the book features chapters contributed by a number of experts, entrepreneurs and advocates in the field.

Courage in Cannabis is a compilation in which each story is unique and written with the hope of inspiring others. I was so moved by the heartfelt, challenging and motivating stories that my patients shared, I knew others needed to be inspired, as well. In these times, anyone that chooses cannabis or enters the industry has a story of courage. This is true simply because a very short time ago, cannabis was illegal everywhere in North America,” Dr. Williams said.

“However, that is changing rapidly now that in 2023 the medical use of cannabis is legal in 37 states, and recreational or adult-use cannabis has been approved in 19 states and Washington, D.C.,” Dr. Williams noted.

Seeking Sponsors for Courage in Cannabis, Volume 2
Through its nonprofit organization, GHH Community Foundation, Courage in Cannabis, Volume 2 – The Triumphant Stories is seeking Sponsor Partners to help support the book’s development, expand its reach and help educate, inspire and end the stigma of cannabis.

“For our Sponsor Partners, this is not just an opportunity to support the book and its contributing writers; it also is an experience. The authors get to know one another, do book signings, network, appear on podcasts and in conferences and educational events, and support one another, while also serving as role models for the responsible use of cannabis. The book has made it into the hands of politicians, celebrities, churchgoers and naysayers. It has inspired and encouraged so many,” Dr. Williams added.

Dr. Williams’ new book is to be published in Spring 2023.

Dr. Williams noted that the goal of Courage in Cannabis is to develop a series of educational workshops, workbooks, podcasts, future book editions and more. For a Sponsor Deck and for more information, contact Dr. Williams at CourageinCannabis@gmail.com.

Courage in Cannabis, Volume 1 is available online and through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Walmart. Courage in Cannabis, Volume 2 – The Triumphant Stories is scheduled to be published in Spring 2023. Mamavation Hosts Massive Glyphosate Free Product Giveaway to Begin Feb. 7

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Leah Segedie, founder of Mamavation.com, will host a product giveaway that concentrates on Glyphosate Free brands from all over North America.

What: Mamavation’s Big Glyphosate-Free Giveaway
When: Feb. 7-14, 2023
Where: Two giveaways on Mamavation and one on Instagram
Info: Mamavation.com

LOS ANGELES (February 6, 2023)Mamavation, an eco-wellness community for women interested in safe products for their homes and families, will host a giveaway of glyphosate-free products from Feb. 7-14 on their website and Instagram.

The community has a reach through its email list and social media platforms of over 300,000 consumer advocates and influencers who are interested in monitoring the levels of toxic chemicals in commonly used products.

“Mamavation consumers are in love with brands that provide more transparency in this constantly changing world,” said Mamavation founder Leah Segedie. “This is why we are happy to support brands that have gone that extra mile to prove they are free from the toxic herbicide glyphosate."

Sponsors will donate a range of products worth a total of more than $4,000, which will be divided among three winners.

The post on Mamavation.com will discuss glyphosate, ways to avoid it, current news or interesting topics and the giveaway. The site will also go into detail on how a brand becomes Glyphosate Residue Free.

Glyphosate is one of the world’s most widely used pesticides, applied primarily as an herbicide and often also as a pre-harvest drying aid in major crops such as oats, wheat and pulses. Outside of agriculture it is widely used as a weed killer for parks and gardens in products such as Roundup. As consumers become aware of the dangers of glyphosate contamination in their food supply, many are turning to the Glyphosate Residue Free (GRF) certification seal for peace of mind as they choose their groceries.

Natural Product Brands Respond to Benefit of GRF Seal
Natural product brands responded positively to the giveaway and support testing for toxic chemicals, especially glyphosate, which is widely used. Joline Rivera, who donated products for the giveaway from her Chicago-based Red Belly Honey company, said that she places a high value on the “tenacity and will it takes to be glyphosate residue-free” and that her audience is “very impressed” by certifications, so the company pays special attention to them. She says the company was involved early in the labeling movement in California and takes it seriously.

“Issues surrounding glyphosate are very familiar to us — knowing our product is pesticide-free tells our customers we care about what they’re putting into their bodies,” Rivera said. “We have a motto around here … if it has to do with helping people feel better and bees living longer — it has to do with Red Belly Honey."

Paul Greive, founder and vice president of sales and marketing of Pasturebird.com, which sells pasture-raised chicken, said consumers have found loopholes in the food labeling system and seek greater transparency from companies claiming to sell safe and healthy food. “The Glyphosate Residue Free label provides consumers with an unbiased, lab-based verification that their food is free of glyphosate,” Greive said. “We’re excited to partner with Mamavation and The Detox Project to bring the integrity and transparency that modern consumers expect.”

The Detox Project provides Glyphosate Residue Free certification, which verifies that products do not contain the world’s most used herbicide. These types of certification are growing fast in the U.S. and around the world as consumers become more concerned about toxic chemicals in their food and household products. Products are tested by independent laboratories and must meet stringent standards to use the certification.

Frank Bergin, president of North Stonington, Connecticut-based Jovial Foods, recalls that, when he heard about The Detox Project, he “fell in love with their mission” because transparency in the food industry has become so important to consumers. “We owe it to consumers to be transparent about ingredients,” he said. Mamavation shares their mission to help consumers find non-toxic food, Bergin said. “We are so excited to partner with them for the first-ever Big Glyphosate Free Giveaway this month!” he added.

Consumers can begin entering the contest on the Mamavation website on Feb. 7.

About the Glyphosate Residue Free Certification Program
Glyphosate Residue Free certification verifies that a specific food, supplement or beauty product does not contain the world’s most used herbicide. Glyphosate Residue Free certification is one of the fastest growing certifications in the U.S. and around the world. You can find the brands and the products that are already certified here. A third-party ISO 17025 accredited laboratory regularly tests certified products to make sure they do not contain glyphosate residues. To be certified Glyphosate Residue Free, products must have no glyphosate residues down to government-recognized limits of detection (LODs) for food, commodity and supplement samples (usually 0.01 ppm), and lower levels than default government Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) in the European Union and Japan.

For more information, visit The Detox Project at www.detoxproject.org or contact info@detoxproject.org. Follow The Detox Project and the Glyphosate Residue Free Certification Program on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

JAMBAR® Announces Partnership With Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Moseley Delivers Weekend Warrior Winter Workout Tips
as Part of Collab with New Organic Energy Bar

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (January 26, 2023) — By partnering with Olympic Gold Medalist Jonny Moseley, JAMBAR today announced an energy bar/athlete reunion nearly 20 years in the making. Jennifer Maxwell, the co-founder of the original PowerBar and now founder of organic energy bar JAMBAR, first worked with Moseley when he was a sponsored PowerBar athlete. As part of its push to fuel winter athletes and outdoor enthusiasts, JAMBAR has partnered with Moseley, a legendary skier, freestyle skiing analyst, and the face of California’s Palisades Tahoe.

To kick off the collaboration, Moseley created a series of Weekend Warrior Winter Workout exercise tips designed to help skiers, boarders and fitness enthusiasts get and stay in shape during the winter season. These tips, which are running across JAMBAR’s social channels, feature Moseley in his outdoor garage gym. He demonstrates some of his favorite exercises, including the Romanian Deadlift, which he calls “the most important exercise for skiers.” While his exercises will be welcome by all active people who like to work out at home or at the gym, they are especially great for those planning to hit the slopes. Featured exercises are shared by Moseley in approximately 60-second video clips.

“Since our launch about a year ago, we’ve had a great reaction from runners and bikers who are using JAMBARs to fuel their activities. Now that we’re in the winter sports season, we want more cold weather athletes to discover our bars. It’s great to have Jonny, an iconic winter athlete, back as part of our team,” said Maxwell. “Jonny is an incredible athlete to work with.”

Each JAMBAR packs 10 grams of protein, natural sweeteners, and premium ingredients. Certified organic JAMBARs include vegan and gluten-free options for everyone, and come in four flavors: Malt Nut Melody, Chocolate Cha Cha, Musical Mango and Jammin’ Jazzleberry. “My favorite flavor back in the PowerBar days was Malt Nut, but I like JAMBAR’s Malt Nut Melody even better. It’s got a great peanut butter taste and the soft, crumb-free texture is perfect for winter sports,” said Moseley.

Jonny joins several JAMBAR athletes including pro cyclist and gravel rider Ali Tetrick and fellow K2 pro freestyle skier Ryan McElmon.

The hemp industry’s road to success over the past few years has been challenging, compounded by uncertain regulatory oversight, supply issues and a global pandemic. JAMBAR® Expands Natural, Specialty Wholesale Distribution Network for Line of Certified Organic, Artisan Energy Bars

- New Distributors Include KeHE, Vistar and Faire -

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (January 18, 2023) — Certified organic, artisan, hand-crafted energy bar maker JAMBAR®, a new natural products brand which donates 50% of its profits to music and active living, is expanding its wholesale distribution network to make its products available to more natural channel, independent and specialty retailers, primarily in the Southern and Western United States.

The distributor partnerships reflect the company’s focus on building sales and retail accounts in key Western natural products markets in advance of exhibiting the brand for the first time at Natural Products Expo West, the world’s largest natural and organic products trade exhibition, scheduled for March 7-11, 2023, in Anaheim, Calif.

With manufacturing facilities and headquarters in San Rafael, Calif., JAMBAR is an independent, woman-owned business founded in 2021 by mom, life-long athlete, musician, and food science and nutrition expert Jennifer Maxwell. Natural products industry veterans and energy bar aficionados may remember Jennifer, who, with her late husband Brian, created the original PowerBar®, which, when it was introduced in 1985, effectively launched the entire energy bar category. PowerBar was sold in 2000.

Today, inspired by the organic food movement and a desire to give back to and support healthy communities and the environment, Maxwell developed certified organic JAMBARs in four delicious, gluten-free, whole-food flavors that provide a good source of protein, nutrients and fiber.

Distributors to Serve Independent, Natural & Specialty Retailers
JAMBARs are now available to retailers in Southern California, the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest through leading wholesale distributor partners including KeHE, one of the nation's leading natural products distributors with distribution centers across the country. KeHE will assist in distributing JAMBAR products in Northern California and the San Francisco Bay Area, to start. JAMBAR is also available through Vistar, one of the nation's largest distributors of candy, snacks, beverages and other convenience foods to retailers, hospitality, campus retail, vending, theater and concessions, and more. JAMBARs also are available through a number of additional independent regional distributors, as well as to retailers throughout the country via Faire's online wholesale ordering platform. Faire features products made by small businesses and brands, including JAMBAR.

As JAMBAR grows its presence in the natural and specialty retail channels, it also is expanding its distribution base rapidly, says company founder Maxwell. She encourages prospective buyers to contact JAMBAR to find the best distributor through which to work.

In addition, JAMBAR is working with leading independent brokers including Independent Natural Products Brokers, serving Southern California, Arizona, Utah, Washington and Oregon; and FamilyQuest Marketing, serving natural products retailers in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming.

JAMBARs are Small-batch Crafted
Using only certified organic, whole food ingredients, JAMBARs are crafted in small batches in the company’s own facility by a team of dedicated employees who share the company’s mission. Using organic ancient grains, berries, nuts, premium chocolate, proteins from sunflowers and organic dairy, and real syrup, juices and honey as sweeteners, JAMBAR delivers a convenient, incredibly tasty bar you can take anywhere.

JAMBAR is available in these certified organic, musical flavors:

Chocolate Cha Cha — Find your rhythm with a luscious blend of premium Guittard chocolate, real food ingredients and organic ancient grains. Dancing on the edge of decadence, it’s a bar to make brownies jealous! Fair trade certified, non-GMO and gluten free, Chocolate Cha Cha delivers 10g of protein per serving.

(January 12, 2023) — Jennifer Maxwell, founder of the organic energy bar JAMBAR, continued her mission of giving back through a special collaboration with social media influencer Wade Holland. This was not the first time Maxwell and Holland’s paths crossed — Holland, a former competitive downhill skier, was one of the first ambassadors for PowerBar®, the original energy bar created by Maxwell and her late husband, Brian.

With a substantial following on social media based on his passion for getting people outdoors, Holland immediately wanted to work with JAMBAR. “I’m a huge fan of Jennifer’s and the PowerBar and JAMBAR brands she built,” he says. “I’m so impressed with JAMBAR’s commitment to donating 50% of after-tax profits to organizations that support music and active living.”

Holland told Maxwell about his future father-in-law, Doug Ruhman (above center), who co-founded a musicians’ co-op in western Montana that was struggling to get by on donations. Located in the small town of Ronan, on the Flathead Reservation, the Western Montana Musicians Co-op gives musicians of all ages and styles a place to perform and enjoy music.

Holland suggested that instead of personally accepting a fee for the marketing collaboration he and Maxwell were creating, they double the amount and donate it to the musicians' co-op. Maxwell was immediately on board.

Holland and his fiancee, Abby Wren, drove to Montana from Los Angeles for the surprise and on Dec. 17 at the annual Holiday JAM Night, Holland presented Ruhman with a $5,000 check from JAMBAR.

"We were so blown away by this incredible and generous donation from JAMBAR," says Ruhman. Calling the windfall “truly epic,” he said the donation will pay for a new sound system to replace the co-op’s old, damaged set-up.

“With JAMBAR's help, we will now be able to record our community's musical creations, and partner with local youth who can then mix and master it, and share with our members as polished recordings.”

Maxwell is thrilled about the joint effort. “Doug’s co-op falls completely in line with our mission of supporting organizations that share the transformative power of music with their communities,” she says. “I know first-hand the importance of music - it was a huge part of my healing process after my husband Brian’s death. The prospect of being able to work with Wade again and help an entire town was hugely rewarding.”

Holland and his team captured footage of the night in Montana and posted videos on Instagram and TikTok. JAMBAR created a discount code to support its partnership with Holland and will honor 20% off online sales through Jan. 31, 2023. Enter STOKE20 at checkout.

Operationalizing Climate Action: Tracking the Natural Industry's Progress

This article originally appeared in Presence Marketing’s January 2023 industry newsletter.

By Steven Hoffman

Despite numerous barriers, such as limited resources, supply chain and transportation factors, labor shortages, inflation, lingering pandemic pressures, and more, a majority of natural products companies surveyed by the Climate Collaborative indicated they are integrating climate action into all aspects of operations and in their overall business strategy. In addition, 83% of companies have taken steps to reduce emissions throughout their entire operations, and 76% of respondents reported prioritizing emissions reductions over offsets, a strategy the Climate Collaborative encourages.

With a vision of “leveraging the power of the natural products industry to reverse climate change,” the nonprofit Climate Collaborative’s 2022 Tracking Progress Annual Report, published in December 2022, reflects the responses from 224 businesses in the natural channel. The survey asked questions to help establish a baseline of the ways in which companies are currently integrating their climate goals into their overall operations. At the time of publication, 761 companies have made more than 2,822 climate commitments through the Climate Collaborative, the organization reported.

Results of the 2022 survey showed that half of responding companies have trained more than 80% of their staff on climate commitments and nearly 70% have made opportunities available for staff members to learn and engage in the company’s climate work. Of those surveyed, 85% of respondents are taking climate into consideration when designing new products or offerings. Also, 90% of companies said they have informed their board or other stakeholders about their respective climate commitments, and 75% of reporting companies are engaged in climate advocacy.

The Climate Collaborative’s report also indicated that an increasing number of companies are making net-zero commitments – 28% of companies responding to the survey reported having set a net-zero target, a 3% increase over the previous year, and 37% of companies are considering it. The organization anticipates a continued increase in the number of companies making net-zero commitments and is developing programs to support businesses in fulfilling these commitments, it says.

“This movement towards setting a north star goal reflects a broader industry trend of companies publicly promoting their long-term goals in marketing and promotional copy. We encourage all companies with long-term net-zero targets to support their targets with shorter-term goals. It is heartening to see that concurrent to an increase in net-zero targets, there is an increase in companies disclosing emissions,” the Climate Collaborative said in a statement.

Highlights of the Climate Collaborative’s 2022 Tracking Progress Annual Report include:

- Almost 85% of responding companies said they are considering climate when they design new products

- 75% of responding companies said they are engaged in climate advocacy

- Almost half of responding companies have trained more than 80% of their staff on their climate commitments

- 76% of respondents reported that they are prioritizing emissions reductions over offsets

Externally, reports the Climate Collaborative, 38% of companies responding to the 2022 survey are actively working with suppliers to decrease Scope 3 emissions (emissions that are the result of activities from assets not owned or controlled by the reporting organization), which includes asking suppliers to transition to renewable energy (21%), asking to eliminate equipment that uses fossil fuels and transition to electric equipment where applicable (20%), asking to require or utilize low carbon farming practices (40%), and asking suppliers to reduce water use or set water reduction targets (32%).

With just over 10% of all reporting companies engaging more than 80% of their suppliers in making climate commitments such as setting net-zero targets, making a commitment with the Climate Collaborative, or setting science-based targets, “we see an opportunity to more intentionally engage suppliers in climate action to further build resilience throughout the supply chain,” the Climate Collaborative said.

Taking its place as a top potential solution to reversing climate change, regenerative agriculture had the largest increase of survey responses with 76% of companies overall reporting progress, up from 58% over 2021 results. Companies responding to the Climate Collaborative’s survey reported lack of financial resources, competing priorities, and reduced capacity to manage programs and producer relationships as barriers to greater implementation. Despite these challenges, however, the Collaborative reported that of the 76% of companies reporting progress, 36% of companies report they have taken robust steps to implement regenerative agriculture and are seeing results compared to 21% last year.

In 2022, 56% of companies with an energy efficiency commitment reported progress on their commitment, up 4% from 2021. Companies implementing a transportation commitment reported a 5% increase in progress this year compared to last year, despite ongoing supply chain issues, the Climate Collaborative reported. Specific to implementing strategies to reduce food waste, 35% reported taking robust steps and are seeing results compared to 28% last year. For companies with a forest commitment, 29% of companies have ensured their supply chains are free of deforestation and 41% of companies reported engaging in reforestation efforts in 2022.

When asked which platforms companies used to measure climate action, survey respondents indicated that B Lab is the top reporting platform among committed companies. Other platforms companies refer to include the SME Climate Hub, Climate Pledge, Planet FWD Carbon Neutral, Climate Neutral, Science Based Targets Initiative, Net Zero Standard, CDP, SFTA at OTA, NCG Coefficient, CCOF, NOP, Regenerative Organic Certification, Climate Registry, GRI, Fair for Life, and RePurpose Global - Plastic Neutral, RSPO, Aclymate, SASB, Fairtrade International, and more.
